Isuzu adds more choice to the D-MAX range

December 1, 2022 By Rokkit

Isuzu Motors South Africa community stakeholders were invited to the manufacturing plant in Port Elizabet before Isuzu South Africa’s year end shutdown.

Isuzu’s projects and beneficiaries, which include the Isuzu Chair in Mechatronics at the Nelson Mandela University, the Govan Mbeki Mathematics Development Centre, Gift of the Givers, Missionvale Car Centre, the Community Chest Eastern Cape and Indalo World, presented their success stories and projects for 2019 to IMSAf’s leadership team, after which they toured the production plant.

Isuzu’s corporate social responsibility focuses on three core areas which include educational and skills development, environmental management and natural disaster relief support. Each of these organisations address a shortcoming or challenge in the community, therefore the aim is to make a sustainable difference in the areas where the projects are rolled out.

The Govan Mbeki Mathematics Development Centre at the Nelson Mandela University addresses the poor mathematics and physical science learner performance. They developed innovative offline technology-based tool to improve mathematics teaching and learning in disadvantaged schools.

Isuzu also supports the Missionvale Care Centre which extends to the mathematics tuition at the Normovle Primary School which enables the organisation to provide assistance to the indigent.

Disaster relief organisations like Gift of the Givers, are able to deliver water from boreholes to communities in drought-stricken areas with the assistance of Isuzu water tank trucks and bakkies.

On the environmental front Indalo World ensures sustainable social change by turning waste into building material. Kevin Kimwelle, Indalo World architect, has successfully built pre-schools and other structures from waste materials provided by Isuzu.

According to Gishma Johnson, Isuzu’s Corporate Communications Manager, the partnerships with these organisations promise to provide sustainable solutions that alleviate the socio-economic ills which affect vulnerable communities. Recognizing Isuzu’s impact on the community and environment forms an integral part.
